Personally I think Lance is the better catch.
Crow is just a little too 'used' for this cowboy.:)
Lance will do better, just wait and see.
Sheryl will probably end up moving down to washed up, heavily tattooed, rock
performers fresh out of rehab.

Can you *imagine* the opportunities he has?
It reminds me of Michael Bloomberg being asked about his
social/love life. He said something like, "I'm a straight,
single billionaire living in New York City. What do *you*

Yeah, that was a good one. But the best Bloomberg quote was "You bet

Lance Armstrong seems more like Steve Forbes in terms of sexuality. :-p

I bet Armstrong's FIRST wife (you know... the one he ABANDONED for
prunish Crowe!) is laughing her ass off somewhere with her big, fat
divorce settlement.

Or "a man is as faithful as his options".
But seriously, there are exceptions, i.e.
Paul McCartney. It didn't take long for him to get hitched.
Then I know guys with zero options and yet
night after night, here they are *trying* to play the field.
So, it really depends on the guy.
Yeah, success, good-looks, a winning, charming manner
may cause a guy to not want to delve into anything serious
but there are some guys that are all that and yet remain
a one girl/strictly relationship/family man type.

Kind of makes you either laugh at or feel pity for the couple whenever
their lame episode of 'Saturday Night Live' ever repeats depending on
how you feel about them.

Lance Armstrong, Sheryl Crow split up
Fri Feb 3, 2006 9:42 PM ET

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong
and Grammy-winning pop star Sheryl Crow have split up, scrapping plans
for a Texas wedding after two years of dating, People magazine reported
on Friday.

"After much thought and consideration we have made a very tough decision
to split up," a joint statement by the couple issued to the magazine
said. "We both have a deep love and respect for each other, and we ask
that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time."

A publicist for Crow said he was not aware of the statement and had no
immediate comment. Armstrong's agent could not be immediately reached
for comment.

Crow had recently posed for Allure magazine trying on a wedding dress
and had told the publication that she and Armstrong planned to marry in
his hometown of Austin.

Crow, a Missouri native and former school teacher, scored a smash hit
with "All I Wanna Do," a track from her 1993 debut album and has gone on
to win nine Grammy awards.

She met Armstrong at a cycling event in 2003 and the couple became
engaged last year.

Armstrong won the Tour de France a record seven consecutive times.

A cancer survivor, Armstrong has been a highly visible fund-raiser for
victims and survivors of the disease. His nonprofit foundation created
the yellow "Livestrong" wristbands that became a nearly ubiquitous
symbol of philanthropy and fashion.

And then you just have to spend time with him as your potential mate to

That's not true.

One could say that arrogance is not unusual, but there are plenty of
successful athletes who are not.

The generalization that would hold true is that successful athletes
have extremely high competitive drive. But: competitive drive does not
equal arrogance.

Sure it does. In order to win a sporting event, one has to believe one is
better than every other competitor. That's arrogance. Thanks for playing.
There are varying degrees of arrogance, but it's still arrogance.

Not exactly true. A look at the definition (via m-w.com) of "arrogance" will
shed some light:

"a feeling or an impression of superiority manifested in an overbearing
manner or presumptuous claims."

I think it's the "overbearing manner or presumptuous claims" part that
separates competitive drive from arrogance.

One could say that arrogance is not unusual, but there are plenty of
successful athletes who are not.
The generalization that would hold true is that successful athletes
have extremely high competitive drive. But: competitive drive does not
equal arrogance.
thanks,
K. Gringioni.
But in Armstrong's case, it probably supports it. If he weren't an
athelete, he'd just be an arrogant bastard real estate agent.

Wayne Gretzky (#99) is an incredible athelete and doesn't appear to be
cocky at all... unlike Armstrong.

Ditto Michele Kwan, Tiger Woods, Pete Sampras. In fact the British
used to bash Sampras unmercilessly over his stooped shoulders, hang-dog
expression and wanted some razz matazz, swaggering arrogance i.e. John
McEnroe.

You seem to know a different Wayne G than the rest of us.
Lance has been under constant attack and keeps his cool.
Wayne throws a fit every time things don't go his way.
Cocky and a whiny spoiled brat.

If his wife is found to be involved Wayne is going to turn real ugly towards the
press. He's an arrogant asshole.

A) Have you heard of http://www.tinyurl.com ?
B) All successful competitive athletes are arrogant.
C) How much money have you raised for cancer research, and how many sick
kids have you visited in the hospital?
D) Kindly STFU
- A lot of people don't like Tiny URL, but thanks anyway. They want to
know the source and Tiny URL just brings you blindly to anywhere (I'm
suppose to trust YOU?!).
- Just his cockiness bugs me.
- That aside, he's still an arrogant bastard. Michael Landon was
considered a "superior" actor, but that doesn't mean he treated his wife
and kids like dirt.
- Thanks, but no thanks.

:-D Thanks for playing.

This is a joke, right? "Michael Landon" and "superior actor" in the same
sentence?

How do you define "treating like dirt"?: In 1962, Landon divorced his first
wife and left 2 children to marry another woman, and in 1983 had an affair
with a makeup artist 21 years younger and left his second wife and 5
additional children to marry his paramour.

Even by the dumbass standards of this group, you are really a dumbass.

Oh, c'mon... do a little research, will ya. There's plenty of people who
knew Landon and waited for his death to say he was a total bastard. Just
like Frank Sintara. Kindly step out of your bubble, please.

I'm curious,... just how do you know how he treated his wife and
kids??? What aspects of his marriage/divorce, specifically, would you
consider as evidence he "treated his wife and kids like dirt."

God, Entertainment Tonight was all over this the next ratings sweep
month after he died. They did a touchy-feely tribute and next period
they were exposing the dirt about him. People on the set of LHOTP said
he was he was very impatient.

What does this have to do with this newsgroup?

It is simply breathtaking to watch the glee and abandon with which
the liberal media and the Angry Left have been attempting to turn
our military victory in Iraq into a second Vietnam quagmire. Too bad
for them, it's failing.
